Many companies are selling phones at half price. When a problem arises after using such a smartphone for some time, many questions arise in the mind.
Many companies are buying and reselling old smartphones. This type of phone is called Refurbished. The body of the phone has been changed and it has been given a new look. There is a huge market for fake models in the country. That is why it is important that you make sure that the smartphone you are buying at a cheap price is refurbished or brand new.
Here are 3 ways to know if a smartphone is genuine or fake
1. Verify with text message
You can send SMS to DoT and inquire about the phone. For that you have to send the IMEI number to the department.
Follow these steps to send a message
- To dial the phone's IMEI number, dial *#06# or go to phone settings and click on About Phone.
- Here you will get the 15 digit IMEI number of the phone, note it down.
- If your smartphone is dual SIM then the IMEI numbers of both SIMs will be displayed.
- Now type IMEI number of phone with space followed by KYM and send it to 14422.
- After sending the message you will get a message with information related to manufacturing, support band, model.
- Check the message details and your phone details.
2. Check with the app
With the help of the app, you can also know whether your smartphone is brand new or refurbished. For this you have to install KYM - Know Your Mobile app from Google Play Store. You will find many apps with this name, but you should only install apps developed by CDOT.
Follow these steps after installing the app
- If you open the app for the first time it will ask for some permissions, allow it.
- The interface of the app will have an option to submit the IMEI number, next to which there will be a scanner.
- You can use the scanner or click on the SIM icon at the bottom.
- If you click on the SIM icon, the phone's manufacturer name, support band, brand and model information will appear.
- Verify the details displayed on the screen with your phone details.
3. Verify from website
You can also use the website to check whether the phone is genuine or fake. You can know the brand, RAM, model and other information of the phone from the phone details website from the IMEI number of the phone.
Follow these steps on the website
- First of all go to the website called www.imei.info.
- Click on Submit IMEI option below here. Submit the IMEI number in it.
- Now clicking on the CHECK button will show the details of the phone.
- Compare website details and your phone details.
